Bobby Hebb was one of the most gifted composers and musicians to ever walk on planet Earth. His musical genius touched millions and millions of lives due to the 1966 hit record that Bobby performed on the Beatles final tour, “Sunny”. “Sunny” is more than a song, it is the key that opens the door to the rich history that pours from the life of Robert “Bobby” Hebb. Such a masterpiece did not drop out of the sky by chance, nor did the stork deliver “Sunny” to the world. Like any pearl of great price the song “Sunny”emerged from Hebb’s search for a brighter day, out of the darkness of the JohnF. Kennedy assassination on November 22, 1963, and the passing of Bobby’s olderbrother and mentor, Hal Hebb, on November 23, 1963. The death of Hal Hebb, of the band The Marigolds, was not the sole reason Bobby wrote “Sunny”…as Bobby said on VisualRadio in 1995 he was “under a purple sky”. Bobby told this writer that he immersed himself in the 1961 jazz album from Gerald Wilson “You Better Believe It” http://www.answers.com/topic/you-better-believe-it-1961-album-by-gerald-... In that review – which Bobby contributed to by listening to me rave about the Wilson disc and adding some commentary – you can hear elements of what inspired the man who would inspire millions more: "Moody Blue," with its pensive and majestic oozing prowl, was a major inspiration to "Sunny" author and Wilson aficionado BobbyHebb who immersed himself in this album in the early '60s and pointed out:"The great Gerald Wilson believed in the talent of Richard Holmes."Indeed, Wilson gave Holmes a tremendous platform to infuse his ideas with those of the other gifted players, Joe Maini on alto, Walter Bentonon tenor, and reed player Teddy Edwards, who helps open side two with his participationon "The Wailer." We are planning a huge encyclopedic book on Bobby’s life as well as a “commercial” book with key moments and exciting events…and the colorful characters from Bill Cosby to Frank Sinatra, Cher, Dusty Springfield, Sylvia Robinson, Jimmy Castor, the GrisGris man - Mac “Dr. John” Rebennack (Malcolm John "Mac" Rebennack, Jr) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._John, the other John in Bobby’s life, John of John, Paul, George and Ringo fame – Little Richard Penniman, Jimi Hendrix,Deford Bailey, Deford Bailey Jr., Billy Cox and so many more. The books, the albums, the boxed sets we are working on, the future DVDs and more will expand on the websites we are building. This popular website is being re-designed so that it will be easier to access, and the information you are looking for – from Bobby’s entire catalog of recorded songs to his entire catalog of musical compositions to anecdotes about his life, quotes from the man and more, will grow as we discover, together, the beautiful music and the stories behind how that music came to be.
